Developed by American psychologist John Holland in the 1950s and refined over decades of research, it proposes that people and work environments can be classified into six types. When your interest type matches your work environment, you are more likely to be satisfied, productive, and successful.
RIASEC stands for the six interest types: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. Your top 2-3 types form your "Holland Code" — for example, "ISE" means you are primarily Investigative, then Social, then Enterprising.
